Description: We have an exciting opportunity for a Planning and Systems Accountant to join our team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. This role will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the systems elements of the Financial Planning, Reporting and Cost Turnaround workstream.Reporting to the FP&A Planning and Systems Lead, and working closely with the Programme Manager and FP&A teams, this role will help the business improve its ability to produce accurate, insightful, and timely financial forecasts by supporting the development of an integrated planning process and related systems to drive automation, efficiency, and confidence.The ideal candidates will have a strong background in financial planning and analysis with experience in system improvements. This role supports the foundational capabilities of Thames Water as part of the Turnaround Plan.What you will be doing as FP&A Planning and Systems Accountant
  • Work closely with all elements of the core finance teams both in the group and across the wider business.
  • Support the implementation of an integrated planning process.
  • Provide support to the finance team regarding the planning process and system implementation by addressing queries and conducting training sessions, as necessary.
What you should bring to the role?Essential
  • Experience in financial planning/business partnering.
  • System experience with SAP and HFM.
  • Experience in an FP&A / Business Partnering function with a proven track record in 'adding value'.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to interact with people effectively.
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • Good analytical, Excel (including financial modelling) and PowerPoint skills.
Desirable
  • Qualified accountant.
  • Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes.
  • Experience in data analysis/migration in a systems implementation environment.
  • Experience in project delivery and/or management.
