Group Accountant - Commercial

Michael Page are delighted to partner with our client to recruit a newly-created role for a Group Accountant with a focus on commercial projects.

Our client is a market leading UK Wide Business with a head office in the heart of Glasgow City Centre.

Description

The successful candidate will likely have the following responsibilities:

Commercial Delivery:

• Supporting the Director of Financial Projects across several commercial opportunities across the UK Business including, including reporting and analysis
• This role will help drive commercial returns through profit improvement initiatives within all business and its subsidiaries.

Business Partner:

• Managing certain Head Office cost centres on a periodic basis
• Managing certain Head Office businesses on a periodic basis; and
• Assist the Financial Controller with any other areas that require input. May include areas such as a review of financial processes and controls, cost reviews, ad-hoc reporting and preparing various presentations to the Board as required.

Reporting and Technical Accounting :

• Leading and Managing the Periodic Financial Statement Close Process
• The preparation of the Periodic Management Accounts
• Leading and Managing the Statutory Audit
• Overseeing all Tax and other compliance matters
• Periodic reporting of the status of winddown matters and outstanding commercial items.

Profile

The successful candidate will likely have the following profile:

• Accounting qualification (ICAS, ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent)
• Excellent communicator at all levels, both written and verbal
• IT literate with a good level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Process writing skills desirable
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong Analytical Skills
• Strong Commercial Awareness
• Financial Reporting
• Understanding of key financial standards and a basis understanding of Corporation tax and Deferred Tax components.
• Commercial acumen

Job Offer

This role offers a competitive salary between 50,000- 60,000 DOE plus benefits.
