FINANCIAL CONTROLLER,
DERRY.
Our client is a thriving organisation based in the Derry area are in a period of significant growth and due to their continued growth now have a vacancy for a Financial Controller.

Key Purpose:
To be responsible for the management of the day-to-day organisational finances and leading an effective team to provide timely and accurate financial information to support the Executive Leadership Team in implementing sustainable growth and long-term financial stability.

Key Responsibilities include:
Financial Management
• Responsibility for managing the day-to-day organisational finances including sales, purchases, payroll, cash/banking, credit cards and all other aspects of the daily finances including the maintenance of an accurate record of all commercial arrangements for pricing, invoicing and review purposes.
• Responsibility for the provision of monthly management accounts for the organisation in an accurate and timely manner and the preparation of Annual Statutory Financial Statements for Audit.
• To provide accurate financial analyses and key performance indicators and monitor financial performance of business areas as required to assist in commercial decision making.
• Management of day-to-day treasury transactions and cashflow requirements in compliance with the organisational treasury policy ensuring borrowings are managed with appropriate cover and bank mandates are accurate and aligned to organisational policy.
• Oversee effective and efficient External and Internal Audit functions and controls processes with regular review of performance and implementation of recommendations.
• Responsible for the procurement of the organisational employee benefits including Death in Service, Income Protection, Private Medical, Pension and any other benefits provided.
• Provide day-to-day management of the organisation s insurances, assisting with the annual renewal of insurances to achieve appropriate cover limits in a cost-effective manner and lead on the management of insurance claims.
• To develop, implement, monitor and review robust and efficient financial control policies and procedures to ensure best practice processes, reduce risk and gain efficiencies.
• To keep up to date with developments in accounting and management information systems and oversee the implementation of new software and systems as required to automate and improve processes and workflows.
• To support the Chief Financial Officer in the non-domestic rates revaluation process and build strong relationships with external stakeholders to ensure smooth running.
Budgeting and Strategy Development
• Assist in strategy development and review, providing financial projections as required and monitoring the implementation and financial impact of the strategy on a regular basis.
• To support the Chief Financial Officer in the annual budgeting process and assist with financial planning, commercial modelling and investment appraisal of prospective capital projects as required.
Leading and Managing People
• Responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the Finance and IT Team, fostering a supportive culture whilst ensuring compliance with required legislation, standards and procedures.
• To provide effective leadership to support, coach, mentor and motivate staff to work productively as a team ensuring accuracy and attention to detail is a priority and developing a culture of continuous improvement across the department to manage work allocation, and automate processes/workflows to increase efficiency and sustainability.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Organisation s people policies and processes relating to conduct, absence and performance management with the support of the people team.
Communications and Reporting
• Maintain strong relationships with the Executive Leadership Team, Senior Management and all employees, building rapport and working positively to identify and meet organisational needs, championing financial efficiency and supporting financial decision-making across the organisation.
• Provide detailed and accurate financial reports as required by the Chief Financial Officer and present financial information to the Senior Management Team, or other teams within the organisation as required.
• To support the CFO in reporting to and liaising with the Department for Infrastructure as required.
Risk & Compliance
• Responsible for organisational compliance with relevant Accounting Standards and the organisation s statutory requirement relating to tax, VAT, PAYE, National Insurance, Pension and other returns and payments.
• Ensure the Finance function is compliant with all organisational policies and relevant legislation including Treasury, Procurement, Section 75 and UK GDPR.
• To identify and highlight any new or existing risks identified within your area of expertise/responsibility (including both financial and cyber risk) ensuring the risks are accurately assessed and appropriately managed.
Board Governance
• To assist the CFO in the provision of Board and Committee papers as required and attend and proactively contribute to Board and Committee Meetings, as required.
• To provide support in obtaining external legal advice and handling legal matters by the Board including Freedom of Information requests, as required.

Essential Criteria:
A fully qualified accountant - ACA or equivalent.
A minimum of three years experience as a Financial Controller in a commercially driven environment.
Previous experience of effectively leading and managing a finance team.
Advanced IT skills including MS Excel and an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as Microsoft Dynamics.
Previous experience of successfully implementing new systems and processes in a Finance team.
Strong communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong written communication skills with previous experience of financial reporting at Senior Management/Board level.
Desirable Criteria:
Previous experience of internal audit
