Job Description

Credit Analysts analyse and assess the level of risk associated with a variety of different loan agreements by establishing a client's credit rating.

Credit Analysts are usually employed by financial institutions such as investment banks and credit rating agencies and it is their job to assess the credit worthiness of the applicant for a loan. It's essential that candidates have an analytical mind and understand the appetite for risk of their employer or client.

Duties include:

  • Performing risk analysis on a variety of different loan propositions.
  • The analysis of applicants' balance sheets to assess their credit worthiness.
  • The performance of simulations of credit exposure on statistical software.
  • The statistical analysis of historical credit agreements.
  • Formulating terms of loan agreements for individual clients.
  • Reporting findings to key decision makers.
  • Maintaining knowledge of legal and compliance issues relating to the provision of credit.
  • Competitor analysis.

Qualifications

Employers generally look for a relevant degree such as statistics or mathematics on entry.

  • £45-50,000 plus benefits for a Senior Credit Analyst based in London.
  • Up to £60,000 for a Senior Credit Manager based in Docklands, London.
