Location: London - Remote & Flexible

Permanent: 15 hours a week (2 days)

VisionFR is delighted to be helping our client, an SME health care communications agency with Revenue of around £1M.The agency runs remotely meeting up once a month in London. They are looking for their first inhouse part time Financial Controller. The ideal candidate will want to work on a flexible remote basis but will understand how a UK SME creative agency operates. The Role is ideal for someone with the full skill set to manage all aspects of the finances from top to bottom.

Responsibilities of the Part Time Financial Controller:

  • Sales ledger - recording and managing customer transactions, including sales invoices, statements, receipts, and credit control.
  • Purchase ledger - posting supplier invoices, scheduling and processing payments and reconciling supplier balances.
  • Posting receipts & payments and managing monthly bank reconciliations in USD & GBP
  • Cashflow forecasting and cash management.
  • Manage the monthly payroll (currently outsourced) posting all relevant journals, making all payments and year end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations of NI / PAYE, Pension & Net pay.
  • Staff benefits and expenses management and generation of P11D forms, where necessary
  • Prepare & submit the quarterly VAT return.
  • Prepare company budgets/ forecast.
  • Production of Company Management Accounts with variance analysis and Forecasts
  • Prepare KPI / flash reporting.
  • Oversee and manage the WIP balances and utilisation reporting on all projects pro-actively liaising with the rest of the team on over runs etc.
  • Support the team on rate card calculations and forecasting.
  • Business partner with the senior team
  • Support on reviewing costs and getting better deal as appropriate.
  • Work Closely with the founder and senior management on improving efficiencies/ reporting and profitability.
  • Work with the senior team to introduce and implement timesheets (Xero) across the agency.
  • Assist in developing metrics and production of monthly Performance Reports with commentary and analysis of performance against various KPI's.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the management team on financial and strategic matters.
  • Ensure full financial controls are in place across the business.
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparation of draft statutory accounts and financial statements with support of the accountants where necessary

Key Requirements of the Part time Financial Controller

  • Experience of working in a Creative agency as the senior finance person
  • Strong Xero and Strong Excel
  • An independent thinker with ability to work without supervision.
  • Someone who will support the Dynamic Team and become a real team player and who over time may be happy to take on further functions such as HR
  • Ideally you will be a qualified accountant (or be QBE and working in a similar capacity within a creative agency)
  • Someone who enjoys working in a small, cohesive team and wants to be a key contributor to the agency's consolidation and growth as we move into a new phase
