Responsibilities of an Development Underwriter:

• Serve as the primary liaison with brokers, providing expert guidance and support throughout the underwriting process for development projects.
• Evaluate development loan applications, assess risks, and make informed decisions on whether to proceed with the sale based on established criteria and company policies.
• Conduct comprehensive due diligence, including financial analysis, feasibility studies, and risk assessments, to determine the viability and profitability of each project.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams, including legal, and risk management, to ensure seamless coordination and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Communicate effectively with brokers to gather necessary information, address inquiries, and provide timely updates on the status of their applications.
• Stay abreast of market trends, industry regulations, and best practices in development finance to continuously enhance underwriting processes and mitigate risks.

Requirements of a Development Underwriter:

• Proven experience as a Development Underwriter in the financial services industry, with a strong understanding of development finance and property projects.
• Solid knowledge of underwriting principles, risk management techniques, and regulatory requirements applicable to development lending.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex financial data, market trends, and project feasibility.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented and organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
