Northampton Head of Payroll £50k to £65k

We are recruiting for a senior payroll leader to head up the payroll function within a highly regarded accountancy and professional services firm. This is a key management position, combining hands-on technical delivery with leadership of the payroll team and oversight of the team. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end payroll process for a wide portfolio of clients
• Manage, develop, and support the payroll team
• Take ownership of complex and larger client payrolls
• Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, pensions, and legislation
• Drive improvements, automation, and system development
• Collaborate with internal teams and external providers
• Act as the firm s payroll expert for queries and escalations
• Support business development and onboarding of new clients

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience in payroll management
• Good technical knowledge, with accountancy practice or bureau experience helpful
• Ability to balance leadership with hands-on client delivery
• Commercial acumen and interest in developing the bureau offering
