Deputy Finance Director
Travel into Midlands office 2 days per Month, £55,000 - £60,000, Pension contribution over 20%

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Finance Director to oversee and strengthen financial management within a well-established public sector body. This is a strategic role providing leadership across the finance function, ensuring financial processes are robust, compliant, and aligned with organisational priorities. You will play a central role in supporting decision making, delivering accurate reporting, and developing a high performing finance function.

What you'll do
  • Lead a team of finance professionals, fostering collaboration, clear accountability, and development.
  • Ensure financial systems, processes, and controls are effective, transparent, and meet statutory and organisational requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial accounts, management reporting, and year end processes.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and medium term financial planning in line with organisational objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with senior colleagues across the organisation and external stakeholders, providing expert financial guidance.
  • Map and improve financial processes, clarifying responsibilities and handovers across teams.
The successful candidate will be
  • A fully qualified Accountant with strong financial accounting expertise.
  • Experienced in leading a finance function or team, with the ability to drive performance and implement improvements.
  • Comfortable operating in a complex environment, balancing technical accuracy with practical decision making.
  • Confident communicator able to engage stakeholders at all levels and address challenging issues.
  • Strong organisational skills, task focused, and able to deliver high quality outputs under deadlines.
  • Interest in public sector or regulated environments, with a willingness to learn specific sector standards if not previously experienced.
