Financial Accountant

Cogent Staffing are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join the finance team of a busy manufacturing client. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing management with valuable financial reporting and analysis.

Work details & salary

• Monday to Thursday, 08:00 - 16:00
• 08:00 - 15:20
• 37.5 hours per week
• 45,000 - 50,000 per annum
• Option to work from home on Fridays after probation
• Manufacturing experience is essential

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in daily accounting operations, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze monthly management accounts.
• Ensure compliance with international financial standards while providing strong technical accounting support.
• Help with budgeting, forecasting, and conducting variance analysis.
• Enhance and develop financial controls, systems, and processes.
• Standardize and improve consolidated reporting procedures.
• Collaborate with external auditors and aid in the preparation of statutory financial statements.
• Prepare annual statutory accounts and necessary documentation for audits.

Key Requirements

• Recognised Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent); part-qualified candidates may be considered.
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Experience in the manufacturing industry is a must; contract accounting experience is highly desirable.
• Proven background in a Financial Accountant or similar role.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial systems and ERP platforms.
• Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• A proactive attitude with a desire to develop and progress within the finance function.
