Overview

Clark Wood are working with a leading accountancy practice in Cardiff who are seeking an experienced Personal Tax Manager or Senior Manager to join their growing private client tax team. This is a compliance-focused position, offering the chance to manage a high-quality portfolio whilst enjoying a balanced hybrid working arrangement in modern offices at Cardiff Gate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, including high-net-worth individuals, company directors, landlords, and sole traders
  • Lead and review the preparation of Self Assessment tax returns and associated compliance work
  • Ensure compliance deadlines are met and that all work is completed to a high technical standard
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering clear and proactive communication
  • Review work prepared by junior staff and provide mentoring, training, and technical support
  • Identify potential advisory opportunities and liaise with senior leadership where appropriate
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of UK tax legislation and HMRC requirements
  • Contribute to internal process improvements and the development of best practice within the tax team
About You
  • CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience)
  • Strong background in personal tax compliance within an accountancy practice environment
  • Confident reviewing returns and managing a busy and varied client portfolio
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Comfortable supporting and developing junior team members
  • Proactive, well organised, and able to work effectively within a hybrid structure
