| Description: | Financial Controller, Luton, Bedfordshire 50,000 - 60,000, Plus Benefits We're working with a fast-growing SME based in Luton that is looking to appoint a Financial Controller to take ownership of its finance function. This is a key hire for the business, offering a mix of hands-on delivery and strategic input within a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. Key responsibilities include: Full ownership of the finance function, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close Preparation of management accounts and statutory financial reporting Balance sheet control, reconciliations, and maintenance of robust audit trails Managing audits and liaising with external accountants, auditors, and advisors Leading, mentoring, and developing the finance team Designing and improving financial controls, policies, and procedures Overseeing tax reporting and supporting external tax specialists Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and longer-term financial planning Delivering insightful financial analysis to support commercial decision-making Ownership of finance systems, driving efficiencies, automation, and system improvements Candidate Profile Strong hands-on experience across transactional and core accounting, including AP, AR, general ledger, journals, and year-end processes Solid understanding of accounting standards and best practice Confident working with financial data, maintaining accurate records, and using accounting systems effectively Previous experience in a small or growing business, with an understanding of the pace and evolving priorities Highly analytical with strong problem-solving capability Proven leadership skills with the ability to communicate clearly and influence stakeholders Detail-oriented, well-organised, and committed to accuracy Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment AGY - Vitae Financial Recruitment We Exist To Be Different - Membership NOT Registration | |
