Credit Controller

Its a new year and perhaps time for a new start?

We are recruiting a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Controller to join our clinets Finance team on a 12 month contract. The role is responsible for managing and resolving a regional debtor ledger of approximately 1.5 million, covering both current and legacy debt.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively manage and collect trade debtor balances across the business in a timely manner

• Take ownership of a regional ledger of c. 1.5m, including both current and legacy debt

• Liaise with care homes, next of kin, Local Authorities, and NHS bodies to facilitate cash collection

• Manage multiple payment methods including invoicing, portal submissions, direct debits, and scheduled remittances

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all communications and financial transactions

• Conduct regular telephone follow-ups with stakeholders to resolve queries and chase outstanding balances

• Review Top 50 debtor accounts on a weekly basis

• Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies promptly

• Provide regular reports on debt status, recovery progress, and cash collection performance

• Achieve targeted cash collection objectives

• Support other members of the finance team as required

• Undertake additional duties as directed by the Credit Manager

Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Expertise

Essential:

• Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in records and transactions

• Strong Excel skills and experience with reconciliations

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to negotiate payment terms and resolve disputes diplomatically

• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritise effectively

• Good analytical skills

Desirable:

• Previous experience within the care sector (not essential)

• Experience liaising with Local Authorities and NHS organisations
