| Description: | Overview DFTO Senior Compliance Manager: About DFT Operator Join Our Team at DFTO DFTO is the government's public sector rail owning group. Its purpose is to bring all currently privately-owned train operators into public ownership in advance of the creation of Great British Railways in 2027 - and deliver improvements in the here and now by unifying and integrating train operations under common public ownership. DFTO has over 23,000 employees, runs over 6,000 services a day and delivers over 450 million customer journeys across its networks every year. This accounts for 26% of total UK passenger journeys and 30% of passenger miles. Major improvements are being delivered by DFTO train operators (TOCs) that are already under public ownership - these are LNER, Northern, TransPennine Express (TPE), Southeastern, South Western Railway (SWR), c2c & Greater Anglia. Primary Purpose of Job: The Senior Compliance Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in shaping, driving, and overseeing the compliance agenda across DFTO and all subsidiary Train Operating Companies (TOCs). Working closely with the Group Head of Compliance, the post-holder will lead the development of the Group's compliance strategy, ensure robust policies and frameworks are in place, and drive effective implementation and assurance activities across the organisation. They will provide expert guidance on legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations including those under the Framework Agreement with the Department for Transport - ensuring compliance risks are clearly understood, well managed, and proactively mitigated. As the strategic lead for compliance, they will manage and mentor a small team of Compliance Managers responsible for (1) policy and strategy and (2) delivery and implementation, ensuring alignment, consistency, and high-quality outputs across the compliance function. The Senior Compliance Manager will also chair the Group Compliance Steering Committee, providing authoritative direction, fostering collaboration across all TOCs, and promoting a culture of best practice, transparency, and continuous improvement throughout the Group.
