A well established, values led organisation in Cornwall is seeking a Financial Accountant to support the Head of Finance and play a key role within the wider finance team. This position offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of financial accounting responsibilities, contributing to robust reporting, strong controls, and continuous improvement.The role is suited to a detail oriented finance professional with a strong grounding in financial accounting who enjoys working in a structured, purpose driven environment.Your new role
Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will take responsibility for core financial accounting activities and support the ongoing development of a data driven finance function.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Month end and year end close processes
  • Production of VAT returns and support with statutory compliance
  • Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
  • Management of the sales ledger and associated reconciliations
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Drafting elements of statutory accounts and supporting the annual external audit
  • Implementing and streamlining financial policies and procedures
  • Supporting ad hoc financial analysis, reporting and projects
This role offers exposure to both operational and strategic finance, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, controls and continuous improvement.What you'll need to succeed
  • A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or QBE or PQ)
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles
  • Experience producing management accounts and statutory supporting reports
  • Confidence with month end processes, reconciliations and VAT
  • Good working knowledge of accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capability
  • Ability to work collaboratively while also managing responsibilities independently
  • Both fully qualified and part qualified candidates with relevant experience will be considered.What you'll get in return
