Location:

Hours: Fully office-based, Monday to Friday, 36.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,500 per annum plus full AAT / ACCA study support

Môrwell Talent Solutions is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an established and highly respected business in its search for a motivated Trainee Accountant to join its growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to build a long-term career in accountancy while studying towards a professional qualification alongside full-time employment.

The role offers broad exposure across a diverse group of businesses, providing hands-on experience in core accounting functions and developing strong commercial awareness. You will be supported by an experienced finance team with a proven track record of developing and promoting talent internally.

Key Responsibilities -

The successful candidate will provide support across all areas of the finance function, including but not limited to:

  • Preparation of departmental and site-level accounts
  • Posting and preparation of month-end journals (including accruals and cost of sales)
  • Assisting with month-end stock reporting
  • Preparation and reconciliation of intercompany balances
  • Processing and review of purchase ledger invoices
  • Auditing purchase ledger payment runs and bank detail checks
  • Nominal ledger analysis and investigation of variances
  • Preparation of VAT schedules
  • Accounting and administration relating to imports
  • Posting and reconciliation of credit card statements
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly management information packs
  • Assisting with bank payments and cash flow administration
  • Supporting finance-related customer queries and administration
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting models in Excel
  • Ad-hoc reporting, reconciliations and general finance administration as required

Candidate Profile -

  • Basic accounting knowledge and sound double-entry understanding (advantageous)
  • Strong Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive and confident working on own initiative
  • Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines
  • Eager to learn with a positive, hands-on attitude
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
