Finance Officer - South Wales - Temporary until August 2026
A well established public sector organisation is looking for a Finance Officer to join its growing finance team.
This role offers hybrid working, excellent benefits and the chance to support key financial operations across the organisation. Office attendance: 1 day per week in either Cardiff or Merthyr Tydfil. The rest of the week is remote with flexible hours. Key Responsibilities • Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable processing • Daily bank reconciliations and allocation of receipts • Matching invoices to purchase orders and resolving queries • Supporting the property tax repayment process (validating claims, processing refunds, updating systems) • Month end support, VAT returns & cashflow forecasting • Producing financial reports and supporting audit requests • Issuing remittance advice and dunning letters • Maintaining accurate financial records and document storage • Liaising with internal teams, suppliers and auditors • Contributing to process improvements What We're Looking For • Experience in finance operations (AP/AR, reconciliations, or similar) • Strong organisational skills and accuracy • Confident communicator with good stakeholder skills • Comfortable working with finance systems and spreadsheets • AAT qualified or CCAB/CIMA part qualified (or working towards) Benefits• £30.7k-£35k salary • Hybrid & flexible working • 31 days leave + bank holidays + privilege days #
