| Description: | Manchester Cathedral is looking to appoint a Chief Finance Officer in succession to an experienced Cathedral Accountant who has served the Cathedral faithfully for many decades. The CFO will have primary responsibility for stewarding the Cathedral’s resources in order to enable its high-profile mission and ministry. The Cathedral forms an exciting, dynamic and complex organisation, which continues to develop under the guidance of its current Dean. It has recently been awarded a National Heritage Lottery Fund grant towards a £10m project which will develop its community engagement and undertake capital works further to enhance its facilities. In common with other English cathedrals, it was registered as a charity in 2024. Bringing its financial reporting into line with Charity Commission requirements has proved legally complex, as aspects of the Cathedral’s finances are also governed by earlier specific legislation. These intricacies have now been resolved, but the new CFO will need to embed these changes in future years. The financial context is currently challenging for cathedrals, in response to which Manchester has been innovative in developing the usage of the Cathedral building to raise significant sums. The CFO will need to monitor the Cathedral’s finances carefully and advise its Chapter with clarity and insight. The Cathedral has a relatively small staff team, and looks forward to welcoming its new CFO for the valuable work to which we are all committed. Further information, a full job description and an application form are available on the Cathedral website. https://manchestercathedral.org/about-us/vacancies Please use the Cathedral's application form. CVs alone will not be accepted. | |
