The Role

To provide comprehensive support to the Payroll Manager in the accurate and timely processing of weekly and fortnightly payrolls, while assisting the Finance team with purchase ledger administration and contributing to continuous improvement within the department.

Duties

  • Provide comprehensive support to the Payroll Manager in the end to end processing of weekly payroll and two separate fortnightly payrolls, ensuring all deadlines are met and payrolls are processed accurately on alternate weeks
  • Ensure the timely and precise administration of all payroll related inputs, including onboarding new starters, processing timesheets, entering pension data and managing statutory and non-statutory deductions such as Attachment of Earnings Orders (AEOs) and fines
  • Accurately calculate, process and reconcile pension contributions in line with auto-enrolment legislation and company policies, ensuring correct employee and employer contributions are applied and submitted within required timeframes
  • Maintain and regularly update employee records and contractual information within the Timegate time and attendance system, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal controls and audit requirements
  • Work collaboratively with payroll and finance team members to review existing procedures, identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to enhancing overall departmental efficiency and accuracy
  • Provide support to the Accounts Department by registering purchase invoices, verifying details for accuracy, and submitting them for appropriate authorisation in accordance with company financial procedures

Experience Required

  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, statutory deductions
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when processing data or financial information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and confident using payroll and finance systems
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to interact professionally with employees and external stakeholders
