About Our Client

Breedon Group plc a FTSE 250 construction materials group in Great Britain, Ireland and the United States employing around 4,500 people. It operates two cement plants and an extensive network of quarries, asphalt plants and ready-mixed concrete plants, together with slate production, concrete and clay products manufacturing, contract surfacing and highway maintenance operations.The Group is highly acquisitive. In 2020 it completed the £178 million acquisition of trade and assets from Cemex which followed £455 million acquisition of Lagan Group in 2018 and the £336 million acquisition of Hope Construction Products in 2016, alongside various smaller transactions. In March 2025, Breedon expanded further into the US market with the acquisition of Lionmark Construction Companies LLC for USD$238 million.

Job Description

Reporting into the Head of Tax, the Group Tax Manager will be responsible for:

• Oversee the preparation and submission of corporate tax returns for the UK
• Support with year end current and deferred tax provisioning for the Group
• Support when required with US and Irish taxation issues
• Assist and support with VAT return and CIS issues
• Provide tax advice and support on a range of ad hoc issues for the Group
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimise efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal teams and provide tax training and support to the Group.
• Manage relationships with external advisors and tax authorities.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess the impact on the organisation.
• Develop and maintain internal tax policies and procedures.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Group Tax Manager should have:

• Professional qualifications in accountancy or tax (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CTA).
• Strong knowledge of UK Corporate Tax and ideally exposure to indirect tax.
• Experience working with an in house tax environment
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex tax matters to stakeholders and to support with tax training to the group.
