DOE (core business band 5)Hours: 37.5Contract Type: PermanentAbout the Role We're looking for a detail-driven Management Accountant to join our Finance team at an exciting time of growth. You will report directly to the Finance Manager and act as their right-hand person, helping to deliver accurate and timely financial information while ensuring that our month-end close runs like clockwork. This is a hands-on role with real ownership. Your focus will be on balance sheet discipline, month-end excellence, and reporting accuracy, ensuring all reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments are spot-on and controls are rock-solid. As the business continues to scale and prepare for potential private equity reporting requirements, you will play a central role in keeping our finance function tight, compliant, and ready for the next stage. You will work closely with a small team of Finance Analysts and AP colleagues, supporting them and ensuring smooth processes across the finance function. Key Responsibilities - Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, journals, and variance analysis.
- Own and maintain high-quality balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, deferred income, and other key schedules.
- Drive month-end close to tight deadlines, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all financial reporting.
- Act as a key partner to the Finance Manager, providing insight, highlighting risks, and supporting decision-making.
- Strengthen and maintain financial controls across core accounting processes.
- Ensure all reporting complies with UK GAAP and internal policies.
- Support the external audit process by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and responding to queries.
- Identify process improvements and contribute to system and reporting enhancements, particularly within Sage Intacct.
- Provide operational teams with clear ,accurate financial information and resolve queries promptly.
Qualifications & ExperienceEssential: - Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA with 3+ years' experience. We may consider someone nearly qualified with a very strong background.
- Proven experience in management accounting, month-end close, and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and internal control frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and financial reporting skills, with confident Excel capability.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across functions.
- Highly organised, structured, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Desirable: - Experience in a control-focused or private equity-backed business.
- Sage Intacct or similar modern cloud accounting system experience.
- Exposure to fast-growing businesses, service operations, or recurring revenue models.
