Accounts Senior Progressing to Client Manager

The Role

A well-established and modern accountancy practice is seeking an Accounts Senior to take ownership of a mixed portfolio of SME clients.

This is a client-facing, leadership role focused on delivering a true relationship-led service with no audit. You will work towards managing your own portfolio (circa £300k+ in recurring fees), oversee all client work to ensure deadlines and commercial targets are met, and act as the primary point of contact for your clients. You will predominantly review work prepared by others, while remaining hands-on where complexity requires it.

What you'll do:

• Managing a mixed portfolio of clients and acting as main relationship lead
• Holding client and welcome meetings
• Reviewing statutory accounts, tax returns, VAT and management accounts
• Ensuring all statutory and internal deadlines are met
• Monitoring job budgets and ensuring work is commercially viable
• Supervising and developing Associate Accountants
• Reviewing work and providing structured feedback and technical support
• Managing client correspondence with HMRC and Companies House
• Ensuring engagement letters and AML documentation remain up to date
• Monitoring billing to ensure monthly targets are achieved

• Strong UK practice experience across accounts and tax
• Confident reviewing work across a varied client base
• Commercially aware with strong organisational skills
• Relationship-focused with excellent communication skills
• Technically up to date and committed to professional development
