Interim Management Accountant

At Rutherford Briant, we're supporting a well-established organisation on the outskirts of Chelmsford, recognised for its collaborative culture and continued investment in its finance team. They are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to play a key role in delivering accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and strong financial control to support business decision-making. As a Management Accountant, you will:

• Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary

• Support month-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and journals

• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and cashflow reporting, providing meaningful financial insight

• Maintain and improve financial controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal processes

• Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to support performance and profitability

• Prepare financial reports and analysis for senior management

• Support audit processes and liaise with external advisors as required

As a Management Accountant, you will need:

• Proven experience in a Management Accountant or similar role

• Strong understanding of management accounting and month-end processes

• Good technical accounting knowledge with exposure to balance sheet control

• Strong Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present financial data clearly

• Confident communication skills, comfortable working with non-finance stakeholders

• A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail

• Part-qualified, fully qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA), or qualified by experience
