Group Financial Accountant

Group Financial Accountant Location: Derby (Hybrid) Contract: Permanent Salary: £50,000 - £65,000

An established, multi-entity organisation is seeking a technically strong and commercially astute Group Financial Accountant to join its Finance function. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for consolidated reporting, statutory compliance, financial governance and the oversight of finance teams across multiple locations.

This opportunity would suit a qualified accountant who thrives in a complex group structure and is confident taking ownership of reporting integrity, controls and external relationships.

The Group Financial Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting across the organisation. You will lead finance teams, strengthen governance frameworks and provide technical expertise across a range of accounting matters.

• Lead and develop finance teams, ensuring consistent standards, strong controls and high-quality delivery
• Oversee the preparation and review of monthly management accounts
• Take ownership of consolidated Group reporting, including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow
• Ensure the integrity of financial data through robust reconciliation and review processes
• Maintain and enhance financial governance, policies and internal control frameworks
• Lead the preparation of statutory financial statements and coordinate the year-end process
• Manage external audit relationships and oversee audit delivery
• Oversee tax compliance and liaise with external advisers where required
• Manage key external financial relationships, including banks and funding partners
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and accounting treatments
• Support budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning
• Contribute to strategic initiatives, acquisitions, system implementations and organisational change projects

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with a strong background in financial accounting within a multi-entity environment.

• Minimum five years' experience in financial accounting
• Strong experience in statutory reporting, audit and financial governance
• Multi-entity and group reporting exposure
• Proven leadership and team management capability
• Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet and cashflow management
• Experience overseeing tax compliance and working with external advisers
• Strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to interpret and apply standards effectively
