Role details

A leading business in the Retail sector is seeking a detail oriented Financial Accountant to join their finance team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting across multiple entities and divisions. You will support both month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements in line with relevant accounting standards and performing thorough balance sheet reconciliations.

Responsibilities of the Financial Accountant

• Support the month-end and year-end close processes by reconciling accounts, analysing variances, and providing clear explanations for any discrepancies identified.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met with precision.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of all financial data across multiple entities.
• Contribute to group disclosure packs as well as broader financial reporting requirements, ensuring all information is accurate and submitted on time.
• Ensure full compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant legislation while supporting a strong internal control environment.
• Assist the tax team with transfer pricing arrangements and intercompany loan agreements, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements by preparing VAT returns, liaising with auditors during annual audits, and implementing recommendations as appropriate.
• Contribute to process improvements within the finance function by identifying inefficiencies, suggesting enhancements, and supporting the implementation of best practices.
