Role Overview

A growing manufacturing business based in Lenham seeks an experienced Management Accountant to support the finance team during a busy period. This is a hands-on contract role ideal for someone with strong manufacturing experience and excellent analytical ability. You will play a key part in month-end reporting, cost analysis, and supporting decision-making across operations.

Key Responsibilities

Management Accounts & Reporting

• Produce accurate monthly management accounts to tight deadlines.
• Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
• Deliver detailed variance analysis across production, labour, and overheads.
• Present financial insights to senior managers and operational teams.

Manufacturing & Costing

• Analyse production costs, material usage, waste, yield, and overhead absorption.
• Maintain and review standard costing, BOM structures, and routings.
• Support stock valuations, WIP reporting, and full inventory reconciliations.
• Work closely with Production Managers to explain cost movements and KPIs.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Support the budgeting cycle and rolling forecasts.
• Provide cost modelling and scenario analysis to aid decision-making.
• Track performance against budget and highlight risks and opportunities.

Business Partnering

• Act as a finance partner to Operations, Production, and Supply Chain teams.
• Provide clear financial insight to non-finance stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist with system enhancements and process improvements.
• Contribute to audit preparation and compliance tasks as required.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis to support strategic and operational decisions.

Skills & Experience Required

• Qualified, part-qualified, or QBE Management Accountant.
• Strong experience in manufacturing and cost accounting is essential.
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Lookups, modelling).
• Confident communicator with strong business partnering skills.
• Ability to manage workload independently and work to strict deadlines.
• Experience with ERP/manufacturing systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage, Dynamics).
