Hays are currently recruiting an experienced Payroll Service Manager / Senior Payroll Specialist to join a forward-thinking organisation based in Stockton-on-Tees. This is a key role with ownership of the full payroll and pensions service across the Group, offering an immediate start and long-term opportunity to shape and improve payroll delivery.
The RoleAs our Payroll Service Manager, you will:

• Own the full payroll and pensions service for the Group - end to end, every cycle, every detail.
• Act as the organisation's payroll subject-matter expert, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality service colleagues can rely on.
• Streamline and modernise payroll processes, systems, and reporting, helping to shape a smarter, future-focused payroll function.
• Lead on all requirements, managing returns, resolving queries, and ensuring full audit readiness at all times.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation, enhancing the payroll experience for colleagues and managers alike.

• Proven experience in a senior or managerial payroll role.
• Strong technical payroll knowledge with experience of pensions.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, compliance, and service excellence.
• Confident working independently while collaborating effectively with stakeholders.
• A proactive mindset with a passion for improving processes and systems.
