| Description: | Purchase ledger clerk To provide comprehensive and efficient purchase ledger services to the University, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, expense claims, and supplier payments in accordance with university financial procedures and regulations. Process high volumes of purchase invoices and credit notes, matching them with purchase orders (POs) and delivery notes (GRNs). Set up new supplier accounts, maintain existing account details, and reconcile supplier statements monthly to ensure accuracy. Assist with weekly/monthly BACS payment runs and prepare manual payments when required. Act as the first point of contact for supplier payment queries and internal departmental queries, resolving discrepancies diplomatically and promptly. Review and process staff expense claims in line with university expense policies. Ensure all expenditure is correctly coded to relevant cost centres and nominal codes. Support month-end procedures, including the aged creditors report, and assist with audit requirements. Person SpecificationEssential Proven experience in a high-volume purchase ledger or accounts payable role. Strong numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE Maths and English, Grade C/4 or above). Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (intermediate level). Experience working with finance systems , Agresso/UNIT4, or similar). Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate professionally with suppliers and university staff at all levels. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
