Assistant Management Accountant

Sewell Wallis is partnering exclusively with a growing business based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, who are looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant to their team.

This Assistant Management Accountant role reports directly to the Financial Controller, who will be a brilliant mentor for a candidate who has ambitions to progress within a business. This role would suit a candidate who has a desire to learn and expand their base of knowledge and gain exposure to wider finance functions.

What will you be doing?

• Management accounts production and support for allocated contracts, being the key finance contact across these contracts.
• Liaising with site teams and operational managers to gather information relevant to the reporting function.
• Involvement in Monthly meetings with operational leaders to provide them with figures and details of how their work areas are performing against budgeted expectations.
• Support with the delivery of high-quality regular reporting, analysis and insights to business, forecasts, budgets and business plans with no surprises
• Raising of Sales Invoices in a timely manner.
• Support the team in providing data analysis required through the annual statutory audit
• Key commercial impact. Accurate and timely reporting along with financial analysis and commercial awareness to contribute to effective operational decision making.
  Other ad-hoc duties specified by Financial Controller.
• Helping to drive continuous improvement through system processes and management information across the finance function.
• Maintaining Group reporting deadlines and ensuring that group accounting dates are met.

What skills will you need?

• Previous experience within a similar role.
• Working towards a recognised accounting qualification (AAT or chartered).
• Strong IT knowledge, especially in Excel and accounting systems.
• Attention to detail
• Financial awareness
• The ability to build relationships through effective communication.
• A quick learner with the ability to retain and implement information and deliver the required outputs.
