Project Accountant

Location: Head Office (with occasional site visits) (Dawlish)

We're looking for a commercially minded Project Accountant to join a growing finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to step into a more business-facing role and work closely with operational teams on live projects.

The Role

You'll act as the key finance contact for project delivery, supporting commercial and operational teams to ensure strong financial performance across multiple projects.

This is not a traditional back-office role - you'll be involved in decision-making, cash management, and providing real insight to improve project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly project accounts and track costs
• Produce CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations)
• Analyse budgets vs actuals and explain variances
• Monitor project margins and cash performance
• Support client payment applications and track payments
• Manage credit control and aged debt
• Work closely with project managers and commercial teams
• Attend project review meetings and provide financial insight
• Maintain financial controls and support reporting requirements

About You

• Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or similar)
• Experience in project or management accounting
• Strong skills in cost reporting and financial analysis
• Confident working with non-finance stakeholders
• Able to challenge and influence decision-making
• Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities
• Strong Excel skills

Desirable

• Experience in construction, engineering, or project-led environments
• Knowledge of CVRs, valuations or contract-based accounting
