About the Role

Macildowie are delighted to be partnering with a fantastic business based in Melton Mowbray to recruit a Full-Time Finance Assistant on a permanent basis.

If you are a detail-oriented accounts professional looking for a stable, long-term career move within a supportive environment, this is a brilliant opportunity. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will become a key fixture in the team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations and continuous improvement of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Finance Assistant, you will manage a variety of essential transactional and administrative tasks, including:

  • Invoicing: Accurately processing and posting purchase and sales invoices alongside delivery notes.

  • Reconciliations: Handling daily and monthly bank postings/reconciliations, and matching sales invoices between Simpro and the core accounting system (Debtors Control).

  • Month-End Support: Assisting with month-end reports, including stock entry postings.

  • Compliance & Payroll: Preparing data for VAT/CIS submissions and supporting the Finance Manager with payroll tasks (such as timesheet management and engineering hours).

  • Credit Control: Monitoring and following up on supplier accounts and resolving queries.

  • Process Improvement: Contributing to continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies or errors in day-to-day finance processes.

  • Team Support: Maintaining organised filing systems, providing general admin support, and ensuring routine tasks are completed on time.

What We Are Looking For:

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, permanent member of the team who possesses:

  • A solid, basic understanding of core accounting and bookkeeping principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with Sage and/or Simpro is highly desirable).

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Clear, professional communication skills to handle internal and external queries.

  • A flexible attitude, a willingness to learn, and the drive to grow within the role.
