Assistant Accountant Chesterfield £30,000 - £35,000 + benefits (including 1pm finish on a Friday!)

The Opportunity

Are you a proactive, enthusiastic Accounts Assistant / Accounts Clerk / Bookkeeper looking to join a thriving and welcoming SME in the Chesterfield region?

The role is broad and varied - reporting directly to the approachable FD.

You'll be involved in all areas of transactional accounting (purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations / general finance admin / recharges / data entry / month end close) and you will ideally progress into fully fledged management accounting and your understanding of the business develops.

It's a close knit, professional and collaborative smaller business with an excellent track record and superb reputation in their niche market.

The FD is fab - approachable, supportive, encouraging and upbeat - a positive mentor who will truly value your input.

The role would suit someone who enjoys hands on transactional finance in a professional SME - perhaps an AAT studier.

It's a sensible work life balance and all employees enjoy a lunchtime finish on a Friday (who doesn't love an extended weekend )

The role would suit either:

• An ambitious junior accountant looking to progress into management accounting under the wing of a supportive FD

Or

• A capable and experienced Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant who is comfortable at this level and enjoys playing a vital hands on role in a growing smaller business.

You will ideally:

• Have previous experience of purchase and sales ledger, bank recs, VAT return etc.
• Be AAT studying (or qualified)
• Have competent IT skills and understanding of both Sage and MS Excel.
• Be someone not afraid to roll up their sleeves and support the FD to get management accounts finalised and month end boxed off in an efficient and timely manner.
• Hyper organised and methodical with excellent attention to detail.
• A team player who will enjoy being part of an ambitious smaller business.
• Ability to start in the next 4 weeks would be an advantage.
