We are partnering with a well-established, multi-faceted organisation in Oxford to appoint a hands-on Financial Controller to lead day-to-day finance operations and support ongoing strategic and operational decision-making.This is a broad leadership role overseeing a sizeable finance function within a complex, fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Finance Director, you'll manage a team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of all financial operations across the business.The RoleYou'll take ownership of core finance activities including management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management, payroll oversight, audit coordination, VAT and tax compliance, and regulatory reporting. The organisation operates across multiple operational areas and revenue streams, creating a varied and commercially interesting environment with significant operational exposure. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, providing financial insight and supporting strategic planning and decision-making.Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop the finance operations team
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting
Oversee budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
Manage audit preparation, VAT and statutory compliance processes
Ensure strong financial controls and reporting accuracy
Partner with operational stakeholders across the organisation
Support process improvement and systems development initiatives
Provide financial insight and analysis to senior leadership
About You
ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
Strong financial management and leadership experience
Comfortable operating in a hands-on role within a complex organisation
Comfortable with an office based role
Strong technical accounting and reporting knowledge
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Organised, adaptable and capable of managing multiple priorities
Experience leading and developing finance teams
