Bookkeeper

Location: Bletchley, Milton KeynesPay Rate: £20.54 per hourHours: Monday to Friday, 09:00-15:00 (flexibility to start at 08:30 if preferred)

Reed are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established business for an experienced Bookkeeper. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional looking to join a supportive organisation in an ongoing temporary assignment with the opportunity to secure a permanent position.

The successful candidate will have proven bookkeeping experience and be confident using Xero to manage financial records, reporting, and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping processes
• Complete weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns to HMRC
• Manage sales ledger activities, including raising invoices, posting payments, and reporting on aged debtors
• Process purchase ledger transactions and supplier payments
• Prepare and maintain payroll information and pension contributions
• Produce monthly Profit & Loss reports and balance sheets
• Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts
• Liaise regularly with company leadership and external accountants
• Support month-end and year-end accounting processes
• Undertake additional finance and administrative duties as required

About You

• Previous experience in a bookkeeping position
• Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential)
• Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Good understanding of sales and purchase ledger processes
• Experience supporting payroll administration
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• Confident communication skills and a proactive approach
