About the Role

A well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice based in the Yate area providing accounting, tax and advisory services to a broad range of owner-managed businesses and individuals.

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Senior or Semi Senior to join the team on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for the role to become permanent. This is an excellent opportunity for a practice professional who enjoys working with a varied client portfolio and is looking to join a collaborative and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of statutory accounts for a portfolio of limited company clients.
  • Preparation and submission of MTD quarterly returns.
  • Production of management accounts for clients where required.
  • Preparation of self-assessment tax returns, particularly as the practice enters its busy tax season.
  • Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and provide ongoing support.
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Working to deadlines whilst delivering a high standard of client service.
  • Supporting the wider team with ad hoc accounting and tax work as required.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
  • Be confident preparing limited company accounts from start to finish.
  • Have experience with VAT and Making Tax Digital requirements.
  • Possess knowledge of self-assessment tax returns.
  • Be comfortable producing management accounts.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Be able to manage their workload independently and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Qualified by Experience (QBE)

Practice experience is considered essential.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience.
  • Initial 6-month fixed-term contract with genuine scope to become permanent.

Working Arrangements

  • Full-time office-based for the first 3 months during probation and onboarding.
  • Following successful completion of probation, hybrid working arrangements will be available.

Recruitment Process

The interview process consists of:

  1. Initial Microsoft Teams interview.
  2. Final-stage face-to-face interview, including completion of an Excel-based accounts task.

Additional Considerations

Candidates should be comfortable commuting to the office, particularly during the initial two-three month period when attendance in the office is required full-time for training purposes
