Description: An established organisation is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join its small and supportive finance team in Headingley. This is a varied role offering exposure to a broad range of accounting activities and would suit an AAT-qualified or part-qualified finance professional looking to develop their experience.

The Role

  • Supporting the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial accounts and returns.
  • Preparing trial balances, journals and account reconciliations.
  • Providing bookkeeping and general finance support across the organisation.
  • Processing BACS and other payments.
  • Maintaining financial records and supporting the management of leases and projects.
  • Assisting with management accounts, forecasting and costing.
  • Supporting the annual audit process, including reconciliations and working papers.
  • Processing and reconciling donations and other income.
  • Providing support to internal stakeholders and responding to finance queries.
  • Contributing to improvements in finance processes and systems.

The ideal candidate will be;

  • AAT Level 4 qualified or equivalent; part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA would also be considered.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Experience using cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
  • Solid bookkeeping and general accounting knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Well organised, able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive team player with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

This is a great opportunity for an Assistant Accountant looking for a varied role within a supportive finance team, based in Headingley with 1 day per week working from home.
