Credit Controller

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Credit Controller to join a busy and fast-paced finance team based in Birmingham City Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who enjoys building strong customer relationships, managing a high-volume ledger, and driving cash collection performance.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external clients, you will play a key role in maintaining cash flow, resolving account queries, and ensuring outstanding balances are collected efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a high-volume portfolio of customer accounts.
• Chasing outstanding debt via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers to ensure timely payment of invoices.
• Investigating and resolving invoice queries and payment disputes.
• Allocating incoming payments and reconciling customer accounts.
• Negotiating payment plans where appropriate.
• Monitoring aged debt reports and escalating overdue accounts when necessary.
• Producing regular debtor reports for management.
• Working closely with operational teams to resolve billing issues and remove barriers to payment.
• Maintaining accurate customer account records and detailed collection notes.
• Supporting month-end processes and cash flow reporting activities.

About You

• Previous Credit Control experience is essential.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Confident liaising with customers and stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to manage a large ledger and prioritise workload effectively.
• Good attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
• Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative finance team.
• Immediately available or available at short notice preferred.
