Bookkeeper Position

Package: Around £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Working Hours: Full-time, Hybrid 1 day from home
Location: Birmingham area (with free parking available)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, practice-based Bookkeeper to join a highly successful, rapidly expanding family-run accountancy practice.
The firm has recently experienced an exceptional surge in client growth and is now looking for a dedicated bookkeeping professional to take ownership of VAT returns and day-to-day bookkeeping. This critical hire will play a key role in streamline operations, allowing the wider accounting team to focus on accounts preparation. This is a dedicated, pure bookkeeping position, ideal for an organised professional who loves the client bookkeeping cycle and is looking to make the role their own.

Practice Bookkeeper Job Responsibilities
Take full ownership of and manage VAT returns for a diverse and growing portfolio of clients.
Perform high-quality, day-to-day bookkeeping duties for clients.
Utilise Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks to maintain accurate financial records.
Directly manage physical paperwork brought in by clients and actively support efforts to transition them onto cloud-based software.
Liaise directly with clients to resolve bookkeeping queries and collect outstanding records.
Collaborate closely with the wider team to ensure all deadlines are met efficiently.

Practice Bookkeeper Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of accountancy practice experience is essential.
AAT Level 3 or Level 4 qualification is highly preferred.
Hands-on, proficient software experience with Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks is mandatory (practical competency will be discussed at interview).
Strong technical understanding of VAT return preparation and submissions.
Excellent organisational and communication skills, with a friendly and professional manner.
Comfortable working primarily from the office to manage physical client paperwork, though reasonable flexibility can be discussed.
Must be comfortable in a pure bookkeeping position (this role does not transition or develop into accounts preparation).
