| Description: | Head of International Tax - Advisory Fully remote £90,000-£110,000 basic salary Potential total earnings of £135,000-£165,000 This isn't an opportunity to inherit someone else's established International Tax department. It is an opportunity to build one. Our client is a high-growth, entrepreneur-led tax and strategic advisory firm working with successful founders, privately owned businesses and high-net-worth individuals across the UK and internationally. The firm is creating four specialist tax departments covering International Tax, Corporate Tax, M&A Tax and Private Client Tax. Each will be led by its own Head of Department, reporting to the Tax Director and supported by a team of Managers, Assistant Managers and Associates. We are now looking for an exceptional International Tax professional to lead and develop the international specialism. The firm being built The firm has doubled its revenue in each of the past four years and is continuing to invest significantly in its leadership, specialist teams and wider advisory capability. Its ambition is to become recognised within the next three years as a leading independent alternative to the Big Four for successful founders, privately owned businesses and high-net-worth clients. The objective isn't to recreate a traditional large accountancy firm. It is to combine exceptional technical advice with commercial thinking, faster decisions and direct access to senior advisers. Corporate clients typically have turnover of between £1 million and £30 million, while private clients have wealth ranging from approximately £3 million to £100 million. The network surrounding the firm is equally distinctive. The firm's owner has personally created and organised an exclusive upcoming event on Sir Richard Branson's private island. The event sold out within two weeks, generated an extensive waiting list and will bring together entrepreneurs representing approximately £3 billion in combined wealth. The firm is also launching an exclusive private members' community for successful founders and entrepreneurs. Members will receive direct access to the tax advisory team alongside a year-round programme of private dinners, high-profile speakers and exceptional UK and international experiences. This sits alongside an established partnership with a major wealth-management firm and significant investment in a wider business advisory team. That team will support founders with modelling, forecasting, growth opportunities, value creation, acquisitions and major strategic decisions. These are not unrelated projects operating around the accountancy firm. Together, they are creating a connected advisory platform around successful entrepreneurs and the businesses and wealth they are building. For the Head of International Tax, this creates direct access to founders whose businesses, investments and personal circumstances increasingly extend across multiple jurisdictions. The opportunity Reporting to the Tax Director, you will take responsibility for building and leading the International Tax department. The position is focused on advisory work rather than routine compliance. You will have the autonomy to shape the service, establish its technical standards, recruit the team and influence how the firm's wider international proposition develops. Your responsibilities will include:
Who this could suit You may currently be a high-performing Senior Manager or Associate Director within the Big Four or another leading accountancy or tax advisory firm and feel ready to lead your own department. Alternatively, you may already be operating at Director level but want greater autonomy, closer access to entrepreneurial clients and a more meaningful connection between your contribution and your earnings. You will need:
You don't need to arrive with a ready-made department. You do need the technical strength, commercial judgement and leadership ability to build one. The package
This is a chance to step outside an established hierarchy and help create the firm that ambitious entrepreneurs will turn to next. If you have built your career advising on complex international tax matters and now want the autonomy to build something of your own, we would like to hear from you. | |
