Finance Assistant - Temporary Contract

Location: Lancaster (LA1)

Salary: Up to £35,000

Contract: Temporary, initially 3 months

Hours: Full-time

Working pattern: Hybrid, with 2-3 days per week in the office

We are recruiting for an experienced Finance Assistant to join a busy finance team in Lancaster on an initial three-month temporary contract.

This is a varied role covering multiple areas of finance, including Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, reconciliations and financial data analysis. It would suit someone with a broad finance background who is comfortable managing a varied workload and investigating queries through to resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Supporting Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger activities
• Completing account reconciliations
• Investigating and resolving discrepancies
• Processing and reviewing high volumes of financial data
• Using Excel to manipulate and analyse large datasets
• Responding to finance-related queries from teams across the business
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Providing wider support to the finance team as required

Skills and experience required

• Previous experience within a varied Finance Assistant or transactional finance role
• Strong Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger knowledge
• Confident completing reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
• Strong Excel and data-manipulation skills
• Comfortable working with large volumes of financial information
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• A tenacious and investigative approach to resolving queries
• Able to work independently and quickly adapt to a new environment
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
