We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Service Charge Accountant to join this well-established and highly regarded agent based in Holloway, North London.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, methodical and detail-oriented, with a structured approach to managing service charge accounts and financial records. You will have previous experience within property accounting, with a strong understanding of service charge budgets, reconciliations, invoicing and year-end accounts.

Candidates should have excellent numerical and administrative skills, and be confident using accounting and property management software. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines are essential, as is the confidence to communicate effectively with clients, leaseholders, managing agents and suppliers.

Duties

• Preparing and managing annual service charge accounts for residential and/or commercial properties.
• Preparing service charge budgets and monitoring expenditure against budget.
• Processing and reconciling service charge income and expenditure.
• Raising and allocating service charge demands and invoices.
• Completing bank reconciliations and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
• Reviewing supplier invoices and allocating costs to the correct properties, units and service charge codes.
• Preparing year-end service charge accounts and liaising with external auditors/accountants where required.
• Investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies and queries.
• Managing arrears and outstanding service charge payments and liaising with property managers where necessary.
• Responding to leaseholder and client queries regarding service charges, payments and account balances.
• Maintaining accurate property and financial records in accordance with leases and company procedures.
• Assisting with financial reporting and providing clients and management with regular reports.
• Working closely with Property Managers, Managing Agents, contractors and suppliers to ensure costs are correctly recorded and paid.
• Ensuring service charge accounts comply with relevant legislation, lease requirements and industry regulations.

Personal Attributes

• At least 2 years' experience
• Highly organised and accurate.
• Strong financial and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong knowledge of property management and leasehold legislation.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve financial queries.
• Confident stakeholder management, dealing with leaseholders, clients, contractors, suppliers and property managers.
