Head of Commercial Finance (FD Designate)

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious qualified finance professional who wants to move beyond traditional reporting and control responsibilities and play a central role in shaping business performance and strategy.

Working closely with the owner and senior leadership team, you'll become a trusted adviser to the business, providing the insight, challenge and forward-thinking analysis that supports growth, profitability and long-term decision making. With a clear succession plan in place, this role offers a genuine pathway towards a future Finance Director position.

The Role

With a well-established finance team already managing the day-to-day accounting and reporting function, your focus will be on the bigger picture.

You'll translate financial data into meaningful commercial insight, helping the leadership team understand what is driving performance, where opportunities exist and how strategic decisions can deliver sustainable growth.

This is a highly visible role where your input will directly influence business direction, investment decisions and future success.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning
• Develop robust financial models, business cases and investment appraisals
• Analyse profitability, performance trends and key commercial drivers
• Produce insightful management information and KPI reporting
• Support strategic decision making through scenario planning and financial analysis
• Partner with commercial and operational teams to improve business performance
• Identify opportunities to enhance profitability, efficiency and cash generation
• Support growth initiatives, acquisitions, capital investment and business expansion projects
• Challenge and influence senior stakeholders to drive informed decision making
• Contribute to the development and execution of the business's long-term strategy

About You

We're keen to speak with commercially minded finance professionals who enjoy influencing decisions and working closely with senior stakeholders.

You will ideally possess:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
• Experience in Commercial Finance, FP&A, Finance Business Partnering or Strategic Finance
• Strong financial modelling, forecasting and analytical skills
• The confidence to challenge, influence and support senior decision makers
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• A proactive and curious mindset with a genuine interest in business performance
• The ambition and capability to progress into a future Finance Director role

Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, food production or another operationally focused environment would be advantageous but is by no means essential.
