Overview

Our client is undertaking a significant business transformation programme and requires an experienced Head of Risk & Governance to provide leadership and oversight across risk, controls, and governance activities within a critical End-to-End (E2E) Integrated Design workstream. This role will provide interim expertise and ensure robust governance frameworks remain in place while key internal stakeholders are engaged in strategic transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across risk, governance and control activities within the programme.
• Review and enhance existing financial and operational control frameworks.
• Identify control deficiencies, weaknesses and emerging risks across business processes.
• Design and implement effective control improvements and mitigation strategies.
• Ensure key controls are documented, maintained and operating effectively.
• Support audit readiness activities and act as a key contact for internal and external audit stakeholders.
• Monitor compliance with internal governance standards and regulatory requirements.
• Produce governance reporting, risk assessments and control effectiveness reviews for senior stakeholders.
• Provide challenge and oversight to ensure risks are appropriately identified, assessed and managed.
• Engage with business leaders and transformation teams to embed a strong risk and control culture.

Required Experience

• Extensive experience in Risk, Governance, Controls or Operational Risk leadership roles.
• Strong understanding of financial control frameworks and governance best practice.
• Proven experience identifying control gaps and implementing sustainable remediation plans.
• Experience supporting audit activity and regulatory compliance programmes.
• Demonstrable track record operating within complex financial services environments.
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders and managing executive-level governance forums.
