Legal Cashier

LHH are working with an esteemed law firm in Bury to recruit a Legal Cashier to their team!

12 month FTC, covering maternity leave

£30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience

Fully in office, flexible working hours - full-time or part-time - 3 days / 21 hours per week minimum

Responsibilities:

• Manage client and office account transactions, ensuring compliance with SRA Accounts Rules.
• Process receipts, payments, transfers, CHAPS, BACS and other banking transactions.
• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Support credit control activities, including monitoring outstanding debt and liaising with fee earners regarding aged balances.
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, maintaining accurate VAT records and reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end processes, including control account reconciliations, reporting and ledger reviews.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support audit and compliance requirements.
• Respond to financial queries from colleagues, clients and external stakeholders as required.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm.
• Good working knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules.
• Experience preparing VAT returns and bank reconciliations (desirable)
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Proficient in legal accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
