Robert Half is helping The Wave, the UK's first inland surf destination on the edge of Bristol, find an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. This is a newly created role with genuine scope to grow into a qualified Accountant, in a business built around wellbeing, nature and community. Role

• Process purchase ledger invoices end to end, including VAT treatment, nominal coding and supplier statement reconciliations
• Prepare your share of the monthly management accounts, including lead sheets, balance sheet reconciliations and journals, to a five day close
• Reconcile takings from multiple payment channels each month and investigate any differences
• Support periodic stock counts and help prepare stock valuation schedules and journals
• Assist with year end statutory accounts, audit request packs and statistical returns

As Assistant Accountant, you will work closely with the Finance Officer, Financial Controller and CFO, with plenty of scope to suggest and implement your own process improvements.

Profile

• At least two years' experience in a busy finance function, part-qualified or qualified by experience
• Hands-on purchase ledger experience, including supplier statement reconciliations
• Genuine month-end experience: you have prepared lead sheets, reconciliations or journals, not just supplied the numbers
• Confident on Excel, including lookups, pivot tables and SUMIFS
• A self-starter who asks rather than guesses, and flags anything that looks wrong

This Assistant Accountant role would suit someone studying towards AAT, CIMA, ACCA or ACA, or ready to start.

Salary and Benefits

• Competitive salary of £31,000 to £34,000 depending on experience
• Hybrid working, with two days in the office and three days from home
• 30 days paid holiday, inclusive of bank holidays
