Description: We are representing an established North East accountancy practice, looking for a Junior Accountant or Accounts Assistant to join their South Tyneside office on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their accountancy career within a supportive and client-focused practice. You should have some previous experience in an accounts environment, ideally within an accountancy practice.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with day-to-day bookkeeping for a range of clients.
  • Process purchase and sales invoices, payments, receipts and other financial transactions.
  • Complete bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist with the preparation of accounts and financial reports.
  • Support with the preparation of VAT returns and other basic tax-related work.
  • Assist with payroll processing and associated administration.
  • Liaise with clients to obtain information and resolve routine queries.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records using relevant software.
  • Provide general support to the wider accounts team as required.
  • Develop your knowledge of accounting procedures, legislation and best practice.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in an accounts or bookkeeping role.
  • Ideally, some experience working within an accountancy practice.
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within the role.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
