An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join a busy and growing finance team within an established fashion business.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone at the early stages of their accounting career, ideally having recently started studying towards their AAT qualification, who is looking to develop their practical accounting experience within a supportive and fast-paced environment.

The role will have a particular focus on Accounts Payable, dealing with a high volume of invoices and ensuring that financial records are maintained accurately and efficiently. A strong eye for detail is essential, as is the ability to work in an organised and methodical way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing a high volume of purchase and supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Checking invoices against purchase orders, delivery documentation and agreed terms.
  • Ensuring invoices are correctly coded and posted to the accounting system.
  • Matching invoices and resolving discrepancies where required.
  • Preparing supplier payment information and supporting the payment process.
  • Performing regular supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Investigating and resolving outstanding or unmatched items.
  • Assisting with bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintaining accurate supplier records and ensuring account information is kept up to date.
  • Responding to supplier queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Supporting the wider finance team with month-end activities.
  • Assisting with general finance administration and ad-hoc accounting tasks as required.
  • Ensuring all financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures.

You will ideally have:

  • Recently started, AAT studies.
  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance environment
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to process a high volume of information without compromising accuracy.
  • A methodical and organised approach to work.
  • Good Excel skills and confidence using computerised systems.
  • The ability to investigate discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to deal with suppliers and colleagues.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
