Our Client' a well-established Accountancy firm, seeks an Audit Senior owing to the expansion of their Banbury office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a growing and dynamic firm, taking responsibility for a varied portfolio of clients while working closely with Directors and supporting the development of junior colleagues.

As Audit Senior, you will provide a high-quality, professional service to a diverse range of clients. You will support the Directors in delivering effective audit and assurance services, ensuring the continued quality and effectiveness of the Company's audit framework. The role comes with a flexible working environment, 25 days' annual leave + Bank Holidays, a comprehensive benefits package and a day off for your birthday.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Taking full responsibility for the delivery of audits for complex clients, including the assessment and management of key business risks.
  • Planning and scoping audit assignments effectively, including allocating resources, setting deadlines and establishing clear and appropriate terms of reference.
  • Managing and undertaking audit assignments efficiently and effectively, ensuring all work is completed to the required standard and within agreed deadlines.
  • Identifying key risks to business objectives, evaluating and testing internal controls, and making practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Liaising with Directors and clients throughout the planning and delivery of audits, discussing findings, emerging risks and appropriate actions.
  • Preparing clear, accurate and high-quality audit reports for presentation to Directors and clients.
  • Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of the Company's audit, risk and assurance policies and procedures.
  • Managing systems development and advisory assignments, undertaking more complex areas of work and advising Directors on issues with significant risk or control implications.
  • Liaising directly with clients to provide financial information, guidance and advice.
  • Supporting Directors with client management and assisting in the development and supervision of junior team members.

About You

We are looking for an experienced professional who can demonstrate:

  • ACA or ACCA qualification.
  • Proven experience of leading and managing audit teams.
  • Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of audit standards, procedures and best practice.
  • A strong understanding of FRS 102 and the ability to interpret and apply legislative requirements to client situations.
  • Experience working with clients within a busy accountancy practice.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, SAP, Sage and QuickBooks; experience with CCH and Caseware would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with charities would be advantageous.
  • Strong experience in accounts preparation would be desirable.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and client-management skills.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
