Description:

Trust Tax Manager - Thame - £50,000 to £60,000

If you're a Trust Tax specialist who enjoys complex private client work but wants more scope, more variety and a clearer route forward, this could be worth a look.

I'm working with a growing Top 35 accountancy group on a Trust Tax Manager opportunity based in Thame.
The team works with a high-quality client base including trusts, estates, landed estates, agricultural clients and private individuals, so this isn't a role where you'll be doing the same thing on repeat.

The Role

You'll be responsible for:

Preparing annual tax returns and trust accounts for a complex portfolio of Trust and Estate clients
Reviewing IHT returns on death, periodic charges and exit charges
Supporting Partners with advisory work and technical trust queries
Managing your own portfolio, including Trust Registration Service updates
Liaising directly with clients and attending Trustee meetings where required
Supporting senior members of the Trust team
Helping maintain high technical standards across the team

What's on Offer

£50,000 to £60,000, with some flexibility for the right person
Hybrid working - 3 days in the office and up to 2 from home
Flexible working around core hours of 10am to 4pm
A growing Top 35 firm with ambitious expansion plans
High-quality work across trusts, estates, private clients and agricultural clients
Clear progression and structured leadership development
25 days holiday plus the option to buy or sell additional days
Flexible bank holidays
Additional wellbeing day each year
Health cash plan
24/7 online GP access and wellbeing support
EV salary sacrifice scheme
Pension salary sacrifice scheme
Enhanced family leave
Regular employee events and long service awards

About You

Qualifications are flexible. ACA, ACCA or CTA would be ideal, but they're more interested in finding someone with the right depth of trust tax experience than ticking a particular qualification box. Strong ATT-qualified or QBE candidates will also be considered.

You'll ideally have:
Strong experience working with UK trusts within an accountancy practice or tax environment
Experience preparing trust accounts and tax returns
A detailed understanding of different trust structures and their tax implications
Good knowledge of IHT, including periodic and exit charges
Experience managing client relationships and your own workload
Confidence dealing directly with trustees and other private clients
Strong technical judgement and a commercially minded approach
Agricultural or landed estate experience would be particularly useful, and CCH experience would also be beneficial.

Why this role?

Because it gives you the chance to work on genuinely interesting trust and estate work within a growing team, while still offering flexibility, progression and access to senior decision-makers.
