We Do Group are partnering with a really interesting and growing retail business to recruit an ambitious Management Accountant into its finance team.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who has built good management accounting foundations but wants a role where they can get much closer to how a business actually operates.

You'll have plenty of ownership across month-end, balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting, but there's also a strong operational side to the position. You'll work closely with teams outside Finance, understanding cost drivers, investigating performance and helping turn financial information into useful insight.

The hiring manager is a huge selling point. You'll report into someone who genuinely enjoys developing people and will give you the support, exposure and responsibility to progress your career. For someone still studying, it's the type of environment where you can learn a huge amount while completing your qualification.

The business itself is fast-moving, entrepreneurial and genuinely interesting. Being in retail means there's plenty going on across stock, sales, logistics, customer activity and operational costs, so you'll get exposure well beyond a standard month-end role.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

• Supporting the month-end close and production of management reporting

• Taking ownership of balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments

• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis

• Working with operational teams to understand costs and performance

• Supporting stock and inventory accounting

• Analysing high-volume transactional and operational data

• Improving reconciliations, reporting and existing finance processes

• Identifying opportunities to simplify and automate recurring tasks

• Supporting year-end, audit and statutory reporting

• Building relationships across the wider business

• Getting involved in ad hoc analysis and projects as the business continues to grow

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

More than anything, we're looking for potential.

You don't need to have spent years doing exactly this role. You do need good management accounting foundations, ambition and a genuine desire to keep developing.

You'll probably be the type of person who wants to understand how the business works rather than simply producing the numbers each month.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Experience within management accounts or a similar finance role

• Good month-end and balance sheet experience

• Part-qualified or actively studying ACCA or CIMA

• Strong Excel skills

• A good analytical mindset

• Confidence communicating with people outside Finance

• A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership

• An interest in understanding the commercial side of a business

Retail, stock or high-volume experience would be useful, but it isn't essential.

We're much more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, ability and potential who wants to learn from a great manager and continue progressing.
