Royalties & Participations Accountant - FILM & TV

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Royalties & Participations Accountant to join a growing film and television business.

This role will be responsible for managing royalties, participations and contractual revenue-sharing arrangements across an established film and television catalogue, while also helping to develop scalable processes and controls to support future productions.

This is an ideal opportunity for royalties professional looking to develop specialist experience within the film and television industry. You'll work with complex commercial agreements, revenue streams, and large datasets, playing a key role in ensuring income is accurately tracked, calculated and reported.

Key Responsibilities

Catalogue & Participation Management

  • Manage royalty and participation reporting obligations across an established film and television catalogue.
  • Maintain accurate participation schedules, entitlement records and supporting documentation.
  • Review and reconcile distribution, licensing and sales reports received from distributors and other exploitation partners.
  • Monitor contractual reporting deadlines and ensure all requirements are met accurately and on time.

Rights Revenue & Participations

  • Track revenue generated across multiple exploitation channels, territories and platforms.
  • Calculate royalties, participations and other contractual profit-sharing arrangements.
  • Maintain recoupment schedules and calculate relevant accruals.
  • Investigate variances and discrepancies and ensure calculations are accurate and fully supported.
  • Interpret commercial agreements and translate contractual terms into accurate financial calculations.

Process & Systems Development

  • Help design and implement standardised royalty and participation processes for future productions.
  • Develop reporting templates, controls and supporting documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and financial controls.
  • Help establish robust and scalable processes as the business continues to grow.
  • Support month-end and year-end reporting relating to royalties and participations.
  • Assist with accruals, reconciliations and audit requirements.
  • Maintain clear documentation and robust audit trails.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve queries and ensure accurate reporting.

About You

We're looking for someone who is analytical, commercially aware and highly detail-oriented, with the ability to work confidently with financial data and contractual information.

You will ideally have:

  • Royalties experience within Film and TV
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • The ability to understand commercial agreements and apply contractual terms to financial calculations.A proactive approach to identifying and improving processes.
  • The ability to work independently while building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Film, television, media or entertainment.
  • Intellectual property or content businesses.
  • Royalties, rights or licensing revenue.
  • Participations or production accounting.
  • Working with contractual reporting requirements.
  • Managing relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
